Freightliner to take over Mendip aggregates traffic

Freightliner has secured a long-term bulk rail-haulage contract with Mendip Rail Ltd (Hanson Aggregates and Aggregate Industries).  The deal will start in November 2019 and will see Freightliner moving up to eight million tons per year to terminals in London and the Southeast of England from quarries owned by Hanson and AI in the Mendips, Northern Somerset.
The deal also means Freightliner will purchase eight loco from Mendip Rail, which is expected to happen before the end of this year.
